Grades 5th-6th:  : At this level the girls will play full field/full squad lacrosse. The competition level is higher at this age group, with league records kept and playoff contention. Goalies for all games. League play in the CLL.

Grades 7th-8th :  Full field/full squad lacrosse. Legaue play in the CLL with playoffs and standings.

Equipment: All participants will be required to wear US Lacrosse Certified Goggles, Stick, Mouth guard, and cleats.

Team Uniforms: Uniforms can be purchased unpon request.

Volunteers: HYAA is a volunteer organization. We can always use parents to participate in many ways. There is a specific need for assistant coaches to help the head coach manage practices and the sidelines during games.

We will offer competitive boys’ teams for the Spring 2023 Season.   There will be at least one team each in the 3rd/4th grade level, 5th/6th grade level, and 7th/8th grade level.   We hope to offer two teams in each age group – one for more experienced players and one for beginner players learning the sport.  There will also be some 2nd graders who will be invited to play up one grade level on the 3/4 team and may be some 4th graders invited to play on the 5/6 team.  We encourage kids with little to no experience to come out and try the sport and learn the game.  No experience is required, but for safety reasons and to ensure a positive experience for everyone, ALL players with no game experience will start on the beginner team.  Coaches will use discretion to move kids from team to team as necessary, taking into account practice attendance, skill, effort, etc.  We also aim to enter the teams in each age level in at least one tournament in the appropriate competition level during the season.  The Tournament Teams will be selected by the Coaches and every effort will be made to include as many kids as feasible.

Holmdel Youth Lacrosse competes in the Coastal Lacrosse League with 10 other towns. This is a town only league which is intended to keep the level of competition balanced. There will be a full schedule which will include standings, playoffs and championships for the 5/6 and 7/8 Teams.   As per U.S. Lacrosse guidelines, the 3/4 teams will play a modified game of 7v7 on a smaller size field that is an excellent way for the kids to learn stick skills, get more touches on the ball and learn the game.

 Required Equipment for ALL Players:

Helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, mouth guard, athletic supporter, cleats, stick (soft mesh). We strongly suggest you talk to the salespeople as some equipment runs large or small and thus there is an element of tailoring to your child.  There are also several stores that offer “starter kits” at a reduced rate for the entire package.

BOYS AND GIRLS K-2 INSTRUCTIONAL SKILLS CLINIC

K-2ndInstructional Skills Clinic beginning the end of April running through the beginning of June

Girls will play on Saturday mornings and Boys will play on Sunday mornings.

This year we will continue to offer an Instructional Skills Clinic.  The clinic will be run by multiple Coaches and will include some of our Holmdel Varsity High-School Players when available. For the past several years we have had overwhelming success with our K-2 Clinic with approximately fifteen 3rd graders moving onto our competitive teams in the Coastal Lacrosse League and feeding our program each year. We will also set up a few controlled scrimmages with surrounding towns to get the boys the feeling of playing in game situations.

Registration Fee for Instructional League: $100

Additional parent volunteers are needed for the clinic!!!  No experience Needed!

Required Equipment for the K-2nd Instructional Skills Clinic:

For Girls:  Stick (soft mesh), goggles, cleats and mouth guard

For Boys:  Helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, mouth guard, athletic supporter, cleats, stick (soft mesh). We strongly suggest you talk to the salespeople as some equipment runs large or small and thus there is an element of tailoring to your child.  There are also several stores that offer “starter kits” at a reduced rate for the entire package.

Boys and Girls Lacrosse 2023

2023 was a history making year for the Holmdel Lacrosse Program.  Our 5/6 Boys and Girls Teams both won the very competitive Coastal Lacrosse League (“CLL”) with the Girls defeating a very tough Rumson Fair Haven team 9 to 7 and the Boys beating Wall 9 to 6 in the Finals which were hosted at Middletown’s Nutswamp Fields.  The girls team capped off an undefeated season – a first for the program.   The Holmdel Crowd was out in full force including Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott Cascone.  It was an evening the kids will not soon forget.  It also marked the first time in our programs 11-year history that any of our teams won the championship – let alone two in one night!  Our 7/8 teams also enjoyed a very successful year advancing to the playoffs where the boys fell in a hard fought game against Shark River in the first round.  The girls 7/8 advanced to the Semi-Finals beating Shore in the Quarter-finals before falling to eventual champion Rumson in the Semi-Finals.  The team's advancement to the Semi’s was also a first in history.  All in all a very successful season for Holmdel lacrosse.
