Rec Softball 2023
For our youngest players, the Quickball girls program was a huge success this season! We had 36 girls ranging in age from 4-6 learning the fundamentals of the game including throwing, catching, hitting off the tee and coach toss. Led by Coach Steve Drejman and Coach Bobby Stern, the girls were split into two teams. They practiced learning basic skills for the first half of the season then started playing scrimmage games for the second half.
For our 1st and 2nd graders, clinic softball had an awesome season with 29 girls in the program across 3 teams. The girls got an opportunity to play games against both the Holmdel teams as well as teams from Hazlet and Matawan. We saw some great development from our players with them getting more confident with throwing and catching, hitting against coach-pitch, and learning the fundamentals of the game. 11 of the Clinic girls are trying out for our travel teams which has us very excited for the future of our program!
Minors and Majors rec season was met with great enthusiasm this year. We had 2 minors teams and one majors team, rostering a minimum of 13 players. The teams looked forward to playing our neighboring towns every week, sometimes playing 3 games in 7 days! Minors and majors present different challenges than the clinic level. However, these players rose to the occasion and met each new one with great success and effort. On both levels, we had a total of 6 players take on the challenge of pitching in games for the first time. Every team learned more about the overall game of softball, both rules and skills wise, and enjoyed playing as a team every week. Minors finished up their playoff run with two competitive games, but unfortunately fell short of advancing. Majors start their playoff journey this month. Many of our rec players are trying out for our travel softball teams which is great news for Holmdel Softball!
Thank you to the League Presidents, Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Parents for all your support this season! We couldn’t do it without you!

8u softball team Congratulations on another excellent season! Though the Spring season ended with a heartbreaking loss in the semi-finals to the eventual league champion, the girls showed amazing grit and gave their opponent all they could handle, losing by a single run in the last inning. Over the course of the last year, the girls worked extremely hard and made incredible strides. The team finished with a winning record and was a force to be reckoned with in every game. Almost all of our girls are moving on to 10u and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!
Thank you so much to the coaches, parents, and especially the girls, for all the effort and support over the last year. This team truly became a family and we are so proud of them!
10u - 1st year Congrats on winning CNJ 10u Silver Division - League championship. This team has shown incredible resilience all year and has really come together as a team. This team is predominately made up of some of our youngest softball players in the program, including two 8u eligible girls! The team was anchored by 5 of our first year pitchers, and 3 of those 5 also played catcher for the team. They played in 3 playoff games this season, and all of them were come from behind victories! They truly earned this championship and we couldn't be more proud of them!
10u 2nd year Congratulations on an outstanding season! This team put together an impressive Spring record of 12-8-1, competing in both the CNJ Gold Division (Semi-finalists) as well as battling some of the premier club teams in the tri-state area in tournament play. The league season was highlighted by an impressive 1-0 victory over the teams local nemesis and never before beaten Monroe Thunder, and a 6-4 victory over Gold Division league champion Hunterdon! In tournament play, the girls made a season highlighting trip to Ocean City, NJ to play travel squads from CT, PA, NJ, and NY amassing a 3-2 record with their only losses coming to the champion from CT. The team continued to battle in tournament play with a 3-2 performance at the Wild West NJ Tourney in Whitehouse Station, with a loss to a PA team in pool play and in the Championship Finals - finishing as the Wild West NJ Tourney Runner Up!
Sincerest Thank You to the coaches and parents for their dedication and support all season, and to the players who worked hard all year long! We will never forget the memories we had this Spring, the Boardwalk and rides in Ocean City, the Slip n Slide “Sliding” practice, the most amazing end of season party thrown by the Cabbads “Thank you”!, the big hits / huge strikeouts / great defensive plays and most of all the fun we all had competing this Season! So proud of you all, and can’t wait until next year!
